Grace And Poise
I have a couple of formal evening affairs coming up and I need the right kind of dress for them. I'm less comfortable in the formal evening gown category than the short dance-your-head-off mini variety but that just me. Once I make my selection and dress for the evening, I sort of metamorphose in to it and I must say I love wearing some of these dresses. I'm going to look at Nordstrom's in Providence Place because I almost always have good luck there and they love me and are really helpful.
The first formal function is a very special party by one of the significant other's best clients. The thing is in one of the best Boston Hotels and is lavish in the extreme. So I need to make a bit of a splash! What's available in the long lengths? The first one I spotted at Nordstrom's (my favorite store in case you didn't know it!) is not full length but I think has an elegant feel to it. See what you think. It's a Tadashi Off-Shoulder Silk & Satin Gown with a crisscrossed bodice and waist sweep to a removable rhinestone brooch above a high-slit skirt. It's in a lovely, dark shade of chocolate and because of that is a little more special at holiday time than the blacks. Nordstrom's item # 188779 $368.00. Not a bad price for a dress of this caliber.
Another Nordstrom entry is this full length three piece JS Collections Jacket, Tank & Skirt. The jacket is in beaded lace, with a covered-button closure, a Mandarin collar, scalloped sleeves and a removable satin ribbon at the waist. Underneath is a stretch satin tank with a back zipper, wide straps and princess seams. Overlapping satin tiers make up the skirt, secured with a hidden back zipper. It's quite different from the run of the mill, I think. Nordstrom's item # 26710 $398.00 which also is not bank breaker. (Sig O will be very happy little camper).
This floor length is a beautifully draped dress in pewter gray silk and is also by Tadashi. This one is a ruched Taffeta Off Shoulder Gown. Really gorgeous gown featuring an inset front and a slight train although it doesn't really need the drama and puts paid to much dancing. S'pose you can shuffle if the guy's worth it! Nordstrom's Item # 113786 and priced at $508.00
