Oh how I adore Christmas. What a glorious celebration and what a wonderful time for a classic Christmas party and a superb time to wear a beautiful Christmas Party Dress. Of course, whether or not you are a Christmas Party Hostess or guest does make quite a bit of difference and the choices for both this year are exciting.

Let's first of all look at the possibilities for a Christmas Party and our role in it to make a broad brush decision as to what we will wear. When hosting a Christmas Party, you need to choose a theme of decoration that you can play in to as the hostess without it being too corny a choice.  So let's see what is available.  Off to Nordstrom first to grab a couple of possibilities for you.

As hostess, how about you go with a formal look?  Very classy but make sure you put it on at the last possible minute, you don't want to be making canapes in this number.  A really beautiful dress by  Calvin Klein.  It's a Halter Gown Matte jersey dress with a shirred bodice falls to a liquid-drape hem. Charmeuse waist and tie add subtle sheen. In a lovely red, it's actually polyester/ spandex but you'd not know that.  The lines are just perfect.  Nordstrom's item # 178953 $208.00  I do believe that dress will do you proud. If you want less formality, this  Teri Jon Iridescent Taffeta Shirtdress is also very special with a exaggerated shawl collar sweeping to a wrapped front, secured with a removable belt. Alright what about a Christmas Party Dress for a guest?  Well, the thing there, is what kind of party is it going to be? Young, informal, lots of laughs among a group of good friends who love a raucous shindig of a time? Or business office must-do for you or the significant other? Taking the friendly environment first, I'd pick a nice Christmassy mini.  Let's see if I can spot one somewhere. Ah Ha! This one will work my dears!  BCBGMAXAZRIA Sequined Sheath in chalk (come on guys, need a better color name than that!) Sparkly sequins adorn a V-neck dress with a chiffon Empire waist, cinched with a tie. Sexy little number which is what we want, length about my speed.  Nordstrom Item # 180261 $440.00.

Now what about that more stuffed shirt affair (sorry - not trying to spoil your Christmas and sometimes these turn out to be the best!) Anyway, here's a really good solution.  An adorable dress that has a look that is quite restrained.  JS Boutique Cap Sleeve Lace & Taffeta Dress in ice blue/black taffeta. A sheer, beaded lace bodice overlaying iridescent taffeta above a ruched Empire waist and a full, graceful party skirt. Nordstrom's item # 204277 $178.00  Nice dress with a delightful price tag.  Don't say, I never do anything for you!
