Vows By A Setting Sun

When you're planning a destination beach wedding the locale is the most important thing and perhaps will determine what type of dress you would really like to wear. I usually think the more simple the better for an informal affair but sometimes the most elegant gowns are taken to the beach and they still work.  I think it's more the mood, the setting and the intent of the bridal couple and their retainers that set the stage.  A bride who chooses  an informal location is not likely to fuss over the dress overly much.  I like that - it's a great feel to be invited to one of these and to totally relax and get in to the swing of it. The beach wedding dress is, funnily enough, quite hard to find.  A lot of the major retailers don't cater to it.

One store that seems to have the right kind of answer is BeachcomberBride.com.  I have just checked out one of their bridal gowns that I think would suit a beach wedding the way I see it. It's chiffon with shirred bodice, ruffled v-neckline and sweep train. It is light weight and very feminine and is touted as perfect for a beach wedding. Sizes range from 0 - 16 and the dress is available in ivory or white. It's Beachcomber's item # wddsy1006 and sells for $299 which seems a very reasonable price for a dress of this sort.

You could also take a look at BeachComber's style # wddsy1002 which is chiffon over stretch charmeuse. It has a square neck with lace-up back through crystal rings and a slight train. Sizes range from 0 - 16 and the dress is available in ivory or white. Also priced at $299.

Now I've hopped over to the wedding shop at Nordstrom's and frankly I'm not disappointed.  Quite a few good looking bridal gowns very suitable for an informal wedding at beach or some other destination favorite of the brides. This dress is very pretty. A Sean Collection Double V-Neck Illusion Gown sparkles with square sequins above a ruched, satin-inset mesh waist and a long satin skirt. really lovely and quite simple. Item # 182591 and priced at $326.

Look at this dress too while you're at Nordstrom's. It's something completely different and I think would be ideal for a second marriage or even perhaps a more mature bride. It's also got a ton of style going for it and makes a very definite statement.  The ensemble is a Cachet Shantung Sheath Dress & Jacket in crinkled chiffon with a sprinkling of faux pearls. It's comprised of a sweetheart-neck sheath and a notch-collar jacket, finished with rhinestone and faux-pearl buttons. Very lovely indeed and Nordstrom show it as item # 188998 and price it incredibly inexpensively at $158.

Actually, right now the only destination wedding I have an invite to is that one I told you about in the Vermont Inn, Holiday Inn style is what they're hoping for.  I hope they're right! It would be lovely to see a stunning bride in a gorgeous destination gown arrive in a sleigh!
